Production of 130 railcars for the Amtrak long distance services were manufactured by CAF. The order included 25 sleepers, 25 dining cars, 55 baggage cars and 25 bedroom cars which also combined bed and baggage.
Passengers experience was greatly enhanced with many improvements to the new equipment including: modern interiors with accessible ADA layouts; better lighting, power options and more efficient air conditioning and heating systems.
A series of full-scale mock-ups were built validating the design process from prototype to final manufacture. These allowed both customer and manufacturer to work together to ensure the final product met a high level of satisfaction through each phase.
